2024 Spring Turkey Hunting Seasons and Bag Limits in Mississippi

Youth Spring Turkey Season

  • Dates: March 8 - 14
  • Eligibility: Hunters 15 years old and under.
  • Location: Private and authorized state and federal public lands.
  • Bag Limit: Refer to general Spring season limits.

General Spring Turkey Season

  • Dates: March 15 - May 1
  • Bag Limit for Adults:
    • 1 adult gobbler or gobbler with a 6-inch beard or longer per day.
    • Maximum of 3 per season.
  • Bag Limit for Youth:
    • 1 gobbler of any age per day.
    • Maximum of 3 per season.
  • Special Regulations for Nonresidents:
    • Nonresidents are restricted on public lands until April 1, unless they have a Non-resident Public Lands Turkey Permit or are selected for WMA Draw Hunt.

Mandatory Turkey Harvest Reporting: Game Check

Step 1: Pre-Hunting Preparation

  • Obtain either a digital harvest record via the free MDWFP app or a printed form.
    • MDWFP app registers you for the official digital harvest record.
    • For a printed form, use the provided format.

Step 2: At the Time of Harvest

  • Use the MDWFP app's REPORT TURKEY feature to submit your harvest.
  • If hunting in an area without cellular coverage, the app will upload the entry once coverage is available.
  • With a printed form, notch the month of harvest before moving the turkey.

Step 3: Post-Hunt Reporting

  • App users: No further steps required after the initial digital reporting.

  • Printed form users must report the harvest by 10 p.m. on the day of the harvest via:

    1. MDWFP website at mdwfp.com/gamecheck,
    2. Calling 1-800-BE-SMART.
  • Upon completing the reporting process, all hunters will receive a confirmation number to document on their harvest record.
