Missouri Elk Season

2023 Elk Hunting Dates

Missouri's elk hunting season is divided into two portions, each allowing the use of specific hunting methods:

  • Elk (Archery): October 21, 2023, to October 29, 2023
  • Elk (Firearms): December 9, 2023, to December 17, 2023

Permit and Harvest Regulations

During the designated elk hunting season, hunters are allowed to take one (1) elk provided it has at least one antler measuring a minimum of 6 inches in length. This rule ensures that primarily mature animals are harvested, promoting sustainable management of the elk population. Both archery and firearms portions of the season are open to those with antlered elk hunting licenses, contingent upon the hunter being chosen to receive a permit through the state's regulated system.
