Spring Turkey Season

Season Overview

The Spring Turkey Season in New Mexico offers diverse hunting opportunities across different Game Management Units (GMUs) with varying start and end dates. Specific regulations, including bag limits and area restrictions, apply.

GMU-Specific Seasons

  1. Carson National Forest (GMUs 2B, 2C, 2A):

    • 2B and 2C: April 15 to May 15, 2023 and 2024 (1 turkey with visible beard)
    • 2C (Youth Only): April 15 to May 15, 2024 (1 turkey with visible beard)
    • 2A (Youth Only, East of US 550 and North of NM 173): April 15 to May 15, 2025 (1 turkey with visible beard)
  2. Valles Caldera National Preserve (GMU 6B):

    • April 15 to April 30 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (1 turkey with visible beard)
  3. Sandia Ranger District (GMU 8, Bow and Crossbow Only):

    • April 15 to May 15 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (2 turkeys with visible beards)
  4. Marquez/LBar WMA (GMU 9):

    • April 15 to May 15 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (1 turkey with visible beard)
  5. Once-in-a-Lifetime Hunts (GMUs 26 and 27):

    • May 1 to May 30 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (1 turkey with visible beard)
  6. Washington Ranch/Private Land and Black River Management Area (BLM, Youth Only, GMU 30):

    • Varying dates in late April and early May for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026
  7. Valle Vidal (GMU 55, East Side Only):

    • April 15 to May 15 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (1 turkey with visible beard)

Fall Turkey Season

Season Overview

The Fall Turkey Season offers hunting opportunities with different methods including bow only and any legal sporting arms. Restrictions apply to certain GMUs.

Statewide Seasons (Excluding Specific GMUs)

  1. Bow Only Season:

    • September 1 to September 30 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (Any 1 turkey)
  2. Any Legal Sporting Arms Season:

    • November 1 to November 30 for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 (Any 1 turkey)
