Additional Regulations

  • Every deer harvested must have a valid deer tag attached to it before being removed from the hunting area. The tag must remain on until the deer is quartered or taken to a processor.

  • The authorized hunting hours for deer are from 12 hours before sunrise to 12 hours after dusk.

  • The use of dogs to track deer is prohibited in Game Zones 1 and 2.

  • Using motorboats, rafts, or other watercraft for deer hunting is not allowed.

  • Possessing a deer with its head removed while being taken from the hunting site is illegal.

  • Hunting deer within 300 yards of a residence with a rifle within 10 feet of the ground is prohibited unless permission is granted by the owner and occupants. Landowners hunting on their own property or with department authorization are exempt from this regulation.

  • Various hunting methods, including archery, muzzleloaders, crossbows, and pneumatic weapons, are permitted during gun hunts.
