Exceptions for Bait Fish

Certain counties in Texas have specific regulations regarding the types of fish that can be used or possessed as bait while fishing. Here are the exceptions:

Permitted Bait Fish Species

In the mentioned counties, only the following fish species may be used or possessed for bait:

  1. Common Carp
  2. Fathead Minnows
  3. Gizzard and Threadfin Shad
  4. Golden Shiners
  5. Goldfish
  6. Mexican Tetra
  7. Rio Grande Cichlid
  8. Silversides (Atherinidae family)
  9. Sunfish (Lepomis)

Anglers in these counties should ensure compliance with these regulations when using or possessing bait fish while fishing.
