Maine Wild Turkey Hunting Seasons, WMDs, and Bag Limits

Spring Wild Turkey Season

  • Season Dates: April 29 - June 1, 2024
  • WMDs with 2-bearded Turkey Limit: 7 and 9-29
    • Seasonal Bag & Possession Limit: 2 bearded wild turkeys* per season; must not exceed individual WMD bag limits.
  • WMDs with 1-bearded Turkey Limit: 1-6 and 8
    • Seasonal Bag & Possession Limit: 1 bearded wild turkey* per season.

Youth Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Day

  • Date: April 27, 2024
  • Limit for Youths: May take up to 2 bearded wild turkeys in WMDs where 2-bird limit applies.

Fall Wild Turkey Season

  • Season Dates: September 18 - November 7, 2023
  • WMDs with 5-turkey Limit: 15-17, 20-25
    • Seasonal Bag: Up to 5 wild turkeys**; no more than 2 per day.
  • WMD 26 Limit: 3 wild turkeys** for the season.
  • WMD 28 Limit: 2 wild turkeys** for the season.
  • WMDs with 1-turkey Limit: 6-8, 10-14, 18, 19, 27 & 29
    • Seasonal Bag: Up to 1 wild turkey** for the season.
  • WMDs Closed: 1-5, 9 not open for fall turkey hunting.

Youth Fall Wild Turkey Hunting Day

  • Date: September 16, 2023
  • Youths may participate in fall turkey hunting on this day preceding the general season.

Bag Limit Clarifications

  • *Spring Season: Hunters may take up to 2 bearded wild turkeys, however, they must abide by the specific WMD bag limit where they are hunting.
  • **Fall Season: Hunters may take up to 5 wild turkeys during the fall season where the limit applies but must follow individual WMD bag limits.
